RSV Flanged Gate Valve

RSV Flanged Gate Valve

An RSV Flanged Gate Valve is a manual or automated valve that uses a gate or wedge to control the flow of fluids in a piping system. The valve has a flanged connection, which allows it to be easily installed and removed from the piping system.

RSV stands for resilient seated valve. In a Resilient Seated Valve, the seat is typically made of a non-metallic flexible material, such as rubber or a synthetic elastomer ( instead of a metal-to-metal seat ) which is designed to deform and conform to the shape of the valve disc or plug when the valve is closed. This deformation creates a tight seal, preventing fluid from leaking through the valve.

Description

A Resilient Seated Valve (RSV) Flanged Gate Valve is a manual or automated valve that uses a gate or wedge to control the flow of fluids in a piping system. The valve features a resilient seat that provides a tight seal when the valve is closed.

Function

The primary function of an RSV Flanged Gate Valve is to:

1. Control Flow: Regulate the flow of fluids in a piping system.
2. Shut Off: Completely shut off the flow of fluids when required.
3. Throttle Flow: Partially restrict the flow of fluids to control pressure, temperature, or flow rate.

Characteristics

RSV Flanged Gate Valves are known for their:

1. Tight Shut-Off: The resilient seat provides a tight seal, ensuring that the valve closes securely and prevents fluid from leaking through.
2. Low Torque: The flexible seat requires less torque to close the valve, making it easier to operate.
3. Longer Seat Life: The resilient seat is less prone to wear and tear, extending the life of the valve.
4. Corrosion Resistance: The valve body and components can be made from corrosion-resistant materials, such as stainless steel or ductile iron.
5. Easy Maintenance: The flanged connection allows for easy maintenance and repair.

Applications

RSV Flanged Gate Valves are commonly used in:

1. Water Treatment: Water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, and other water management systems.
2. Industrial Processes: Chemical processing, oil and gas, power generation, and other industrial processes.
3. Marine Applications: Marine vessels, offshore platforms, and other marine applications.
4. Fire Protection: Fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems and fire hydrants.

Types

RSV Flanged Gate Valves come in various types, including:

1. Rising Stem Gate Valve: The stem rises when the valve is opened.
2. Non-Rising Stem Gate Valve: The stem does not rise when the valve is opened.
3. Bolted Bonnet Gate Valve: The bonnet is bolted to the valve body.
4. Welded Bonnet Gate Valve: The bonnet is welded to the valve body.
5. Actuated Gate Valve: The valve is automated with an actuator for remote control.
